This is Melisa - We all got to go back to CICU to see YouYou. It was difficult for Erica to see her sweet baby with tubes and wires hooked up to her. Erica and Aaron kissed her forehead and whispered sweet things to her. We met her nurse. YouYou is her only patient. She was very sweet and is taking great care of YouYou. While we were in CICU the surgeon stopped by to check on us and answered a couple more questions. She is still running a fever.
After a few minutes we left Erica and Aaron alone with YouYou. They were able to stay with her for about 20 minutes longer. The nurse needed to do a few things for YouYou so she asked them to leave and come back to see her at 4:00.
Erica would really like to be able to go back to CICU outside of visiting hours when YouYou wakes up. Please pray for comfort for Erica and YouYou during this time. Please pray that the hearts of the hospital staff will be softened and allow Erica to spend extra time with her baby.
PS: There is a sweet little boy in the waiting room singing "Jesus loves me." Watching him sing makes Erica want to run over and give him a big hug.
I was just able to catch up on the blog. Thank God that the surgery is over. We will continue to pray for the details that the doctors gave and for YouYou's fever to go down. We will pray that Erica can stay with YouYou also.

Oh I know that did Erica's heart good to see her baby and kiss her. Tears are flowing...we will pray over each and every detail mentioned below that the doctors discussed. We are believing God that He is our Jehovah Rapha...our God who heals!!!!!!!!

Oh thank goodness they got to go back. I am having a hard time with the visiting hours thing? I hope it is just during shift change right? At VCH, we were allowed to be in PICU the whole time except shift changes (about 2 hours out of the total 24 hours). If this is not the case, they need to ask for an exception and they may have to be firm. VCH was great but we ran into a few individuals who did not understand the unique needs of a newly adopted child and their need for their parents to BE THERE. HUGS!!!

ReplyDeleteyou guys really need to be assertive and follow "Wife of the Prez" suggestions. Try explaining the adoption situation....I've learned through watching my MIL go through hospital stuff with my FIL that you really have to assert yourself.
I can't wait for the next update!
